"A space that is full of character and personality, yet neutral" is how we describe the scheme we created for this office space in central London. Royal London's brief was to create a high quality office space that offers something a little bit different. Creating a CAT A+ scheme is different from other areas of design, as we have to inspire while being open ; MF Design Studio created a scheme that suits and is attractive to the target market and offers a well sought-after space.
Starting with the 4th floor, this floorplate is defined by the strong ceiling detail. The ceiling is an installation constructed of multiple shades of acoustic felt, complemented with task lights that become part of the decorative motif. Subtle blue tones are weaved in with the greyscale tones. Playful pops of orange and yellow colour add to the breakout space that sits in the core of the building. All floors of the building benefit from these sort-after views of the Honourable Artillery Company cricket grounds.
Floor 2 features unexpectedly playful lighting viewed through slats and the same punchy good design throughout. The breakout area features a green undertoned carpet, complemented by an equal-hued café chair. The ceiling is detailed with mesh panels, book ended with bespoke white lights. The mesh ceiling features the building's pipe work in a subdued way.
The wellbeing forms an important aspect of our design process and this is reflected in the choice of the furniture; from height adjustable desks to the timber theme that runs across the space. 10 Chiswell street is a great example of a neutral space that is full of character and personality. The 1st floor features green tones on upholstery. The carpet chosen for open plan spaces complements the concrete effect floor pattern.
6th floor was designed directly with the client. Workspace on this floor is complemented by sweeping views of the city. We put forward a scheme in line with the building approach with contemporary and bold tones of blue and oxblood. The space is occupied by a confidential client so these images are renders we made for client approval.
Our work in the basement entailed making a bold and outgoing scheme to attract a occupant who would feel comfortable working without city views. We added bold colour and a red velvet curtain - the good vibes only sign was optional. Further to the curtain, we added strong tones of orange carpet and blue chairs. High quality base build, glazing and lighting makes the space a high end and great place to work. Light comes from generous light wells on both sides of the building.
We developed the concept of the top 7th floor, which has the unique feature of the terrace. Furniture is hospitality-lead and in grey tones to complement the façade when seen from the street. We brought in elements of high end metals and a beautiful olive tree. Interior appointments include a different take on the feature ceiling details we include on each floor. Using square-assembled acoustic units with linier lighting inset.
